REACH, a new set of regulations governing the importing, production and sale of chemicals within the EU is set to have a major impact on your company - and the timeline is tight.

 

On November 30, 2008, all chemicals that you produce or import to put on the market in the EU must be pre-registered. The pre-registration data will be used to form a Substance Information Exchange Forum in which you have datasharing obligations. To avoid unnecessary sharing of market information with your competitors in a SIEF there are some issues:

  • You may appoint a Third Party Representative (TPR) to remain unknown to the members of the SIEF;
  • You may voluntarily prepare for SIEF data sharing in a consortium, this may allow you to have a more efficient registration process.
