REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals), the new EU Regulation on chemical substances, came into force on the first of June 2007. As you know, REACH will have consequences for almost all companies dealing with chemicals. The obligations under REACH are rapidly approaching and companies need to prepare themselves. Therefore it is time to take action now!

Royal Haskoning assists and advises companies, governments and NGO's throughout the world with their REACH compliance issues. One helpful REACH IT-tool is our Chemicals Management Tool - CMT.

CMT is an IT solution which supports you to better manage the information of your chemical substances to comply with legal requirements. It was originally developed by a cooperative effort of the industry and the Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI), and presently made available as a product by Royal Haskoning.

With our softwarepartner Hemmis we re-developed this product which resulted in ExESS-CMT.

Since REACH concerns substances and not products, it is essential for companies to unravel their product portfolio to the level of single substances. CMT works together with your MSDS and your ERP system to facilitate this process. After input of the composition data (can be imported from the SDS system) and product volumes (can be imported from the ERP system), the volumes per substance and subsequent REACH requirements (volume dependent) are calculated. In this way managers get insight into the required efforts and associated costs to become REACH compliant.

Furthermore, the REACH dossiers can be updated and maintained periodically, resulting in an up-to-date overview of the data gaps and estimated costs to fill these data gaps. This information leads to strategic business decisions regarding the economic potential of chemicals substances.
